Boys 4 Period

Empowering All Gender Through Menstrual Health Education

Boys 4 Period is a school-based sexuality education program aimed at promoting menstrual health education among boys and young men. Our goal is to break the stigma surrounding menstruation and foster a supportive environment where all genders understand and respect menstrual health.

Why It Matters

Menstrual health is often shrouded in stigma and misinformation, particularly among boys who may not receive adequate education on the topic. By engaging boys in learning about menstruation, we aim to build empathy, challenge stereotypes, and encourage supportive behaviors. This approach not only helps create a more informed generation but also contributes to gender equality and improved health outcomes.

Program Components

  • Educational Workshops: Interactive sessions with boys that utilize a participatory learning approach to cover menstrual health, the menstrual cycle, and the experiences of young girls. These workshops are designed to be engaging and informative, encouraging open discussion and questions, and allowing participants to actively contribute to the learning process.
  • Co-Design Workshops: Collaborative workshops where adolescent girls and young wome are involved in co-designing aspects and curriculum of the program. This participatory approach ensures that the content and delivery of the workshops are relevant and captures the experiences and needs of the girls.
  • Awareness Campaigns: School and community campaigns that highlight the importance of menstrual health education and promote positive attitudes towards menstruation.
  • Resource Materials: Access to educational materials and tools that support ongoing learning and discussion about menstrual health. These include pamphlets, videos, and interactive content.

Impact

By participating in Boys 4 Period, boys gain a deeper understanding of menstrual health and develop a supportive attitude towards menstruating peers. This not only helps dismantle stigmas but also fosters a more inclusive and respectful community. Our program has seen increased awareness, reduced stigma, and improved support among young people in participating schools.
