LOTS ( Love on the Streets )
LOTS is an out-of-school program designed to support adolescents and young people living on the streets. Our mission is to improve their health and wellbeing by providing them with a sense of hope, protecting their health, and connecting them with educational and empowerment opportunities for a better future.
Street living significantly impacts the health and wellbeing of young people. Research indicates that adolescents living on the streets are at a heightened risk of physical and mental health issues, including malnutrition, infections, and psychological trauma. In many cases, they are also deprived of educational and career opportunities, perpetuating cycles of poverty and marginalization.
Program Components
LOTS Funfair
LOTS Funfair is an annual event designed to bring joy and hope to young people living on the streets, particularly during the holiday season. This event goes beyond traditional gift-giving, aiming to create memorable experiences that resonate deeply with the participants. Our vision is to ensure that every participant feels cherished, special, and loved.
How to Support LOTS Funfair
Help make Christmas magical for young people on the streets through LOTS by supporting the following activities:
- My Santa Claus
Be a Santa Claus by sponsoring a Christmas gift for a young person.
- Joyful Christmas
Contribute to creating a joyful experience by supporting various services for LOTS Funfair participants. You can either provide these services yourself or donate cash for us to pay vendors. Services include:
- Making of t-shirts for participants
- DJ services
- Provision of sound equipment
- Venue and decoration
- Face painting
- Catering
- MC services
- Box of Smiles
One of the most cherished wishes of street youth is a shopping experience based on our previous research. We curate a Christmas shopping experience for our participants and accept donations of clothes, shoes, books, and household items in good condition. Contact us for drop-off locations closest to you.
Back to School
We sponsor adolescents on the streets to return to school and connect them with mentors who guide them in setting and achieving their academic and personal goals each school year. This support helps them reintegrate into the education system and build a foundation for a brighter future
Safe Dates
Safe Dates is a dating violence prevention program tailored for adolescents and young people living on the streets. While they may appear too focused on survival to engage in relationships, research shows that a significant proportion of street youth are involved in dating relationships, with a concerning number experiencing dating violence. Our program addresses these issues by providing education and support to help prevent and address dating violence.
